General Information
The Stock Market Game™ Program and Take Stock in Minnesota are available
twice each school year and once during the summer. Each session provides
the opportunity for thousands of students to learn financial literacy
skills while they participate. At the start of the simulation, each team
receives a hypothetical $100,000 to invest in a portfolio of securities
listed on the New York Stock Exchange, The American Stock Exchange and
the NASDAQ Stock Market. Teams use the Internet to follow their portfolios,
research stocks, enter trades at real-time prices, and see their weekly
ranking. Instructors may pre-register teams online at www.stockmarketgame.org.
Ways to Volunteer with The
Stock Market Game
Adults, especially those skilled in the financial services industry, are
encouraged to be part of the SMG by sharing their knowledge about the
markets with students. Teachers and school personnel appreciate having
someone they can call upon to help students learn about the ups and downs
of the market. Volunteer opportunities abound within the framework of
The Stock Market Game and Take Stock in Minnesota from one hour per week
to once a school year. Volunteers can also serve as recruitment agents.
Check to see if your school is participating.
