About BestPrep
Mission
The mission of BestPrep, formerly known as the
Business Economics Education Foundation (BEEF), is to provide all Minnesota
students with business, career and financial literacy skills through experiences
that inspire success in work and life. We are committed to the goal of
bridging business and education resources to provide students with the
best preparation for success in life and work.
BestPrep accepts the challenge:
- Two out of three students between the ages of 16
and 22 admit they should know more about money management
- Less than 50% of college students understand how
the stock market operates.
- 32% of college students are currently in debt to
credit card companies
- 52% of University of Minnesota freshmen are undecided
about their major
BestPrep delivers results:
- One million work-ready, career-bound students have
been prepared for the workforce through their participation in BestPrep
programs.
- Annually, 1,000 volunteers from leading Minnesota
companies serve as speakers and role models addressing financial responsibility,
technology and career development.
- 260,000 students have become financially literate
through hands-on activities – in some cases participation resulted
in a more than 60% improvement on financial literacy test scores.
- BestPrep links students with eMentors and business
professionals for career development, guidance, mentorship, etc.
