"Birdies for BestPrep"

More than $50,000 was raised at our 10th annual special event, “Birdies for BestPrep,” benefiting BestPrep’s business and financial literacy programs. The event was held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota campus.
More than 325 people tried out their putting skills on the professionally designed miniature golf course, swung away at the golf simulator, had their caricatures drawn by professional artists, bid on the 200-item silent auction, and enjoyed fabulous food catered by D'Amico. General Mills was presented with the Humanitarian Award for their longtime commitment to BestPrep and to the community. Jacqueline Braun from General Mills accepted the award on behalf of the company.



Held this year for the first time was BestPrep Idol, an exciting talent competition sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans showcasing BestPrep's students. The winner of BestPrep Idol was Patrick Villella, a junior from Irondale High School, who sang “Yesterday” by the Beatles. Patrick was the winner of a $1,000 savings bond and a $100 gift card to Best Buy.
