Minnesota Business Venture Volunteers
Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to enhance the programs focused on career development, financial management and entrepreneurship. Over 150 volunteers are needed to make MBV a success this summer. Below are short term volunteer opportunities where you can positively influence the lives of high school students. All opportunities take place at St. Cloud State University or St. John’s University in Collegeville. Mock Interviewer: Financial Planner:
During the week, students complete a job application in preparation for a potential job opportunity. As a Mock Interviewer, you will sit down with a student and conduct a brief interview, followed by feedback to help them improve. Numerous interviews will be conducted. Volunteers are briefed and provided with sample questions.
Students are eager to know about investing. However, only 16.7% of high school seniors take a money management or personal finance course. We are seeking professional financial planners and/or advisors to lead a small group of students in discussions about the importance of effective financial planning. Volunteers are briefed and provided with curriculum.
Throughout the week at MBV students work in groups called “companies” to create a Business plan for a hypothetical product of their own design. Each group presents their marketing, operations and financial plan at the end of the week to a panel of judges. Participating as a judge is an excellent opportunity for you to see what students learn at MBV, and to give feedback to the students on the Business Plan that they have worked hard to create.
Please provide us with your contact information and indicate when you are able to participate.
