Allianz Life - Stock Market Game Grant Information and Application Process

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America is committed to the financial education of Minnesota students and thus they have dedicated financial and volunteer resources to support teachers and students participating in The Stock Market Game.

Grant Guidlines

To qualify for the Allianz Life grant, educators must comply with the funding and volunteer program guidelines listed below.

1. Funding Details

Allianz has generously provided funding for 300 teams to participate for free during the Spring 2012 SMG session.  The funding for the teams will be divided into 150 teams for teachers new to SMG and and 150 teams for teachers who participated in SMG in 2010-2011.  All funding will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Teachers can receive up to 20 free teams. Please note: the typical team fee is $20.

2. Volunteer Program Details

Each class that participates in SMG through the Allianz grant will be matched with a volunteer from Allianz Life. There are two components to the volunteer’s role:

I. Classroom Visit - Volunteers will visit the classroom within the first three weeks of beginning SMG trading to make a presentation on basic stock market and investing concepts and to answer initial questions students may have.

II. Email Exchange - Volunteers will continue to serve as a resource for the class via email throughout the session.  Teachers will send at least three emails after the volunteer’s classroom visit.  These emails will contain updates on the students’ portfolios, and questions the students or teacher have about the stock market or basic personal finance.
